Spirit Airlines Baggage Policy
This Baggage policy includes all the regular basic fares as mentioned below:
- 1 personal item- No cost.
- 1 carry-on item as applicable fees.
- Carry-on baggage as per applicable fees.
- Charges will be applicable if the number of bags increases beyond 2 bags.
- On overweight and oversized bag fees will apply depending on weight and size categories.
- Charges will be charged on sports equipment.
Spirit Airlines Carry-on Baggage Policy
Passengers are allowed to carry 1 carry-on bag and 1 personal item (laptop bag, briefcase, and purse) free of cost.
Make sure the carry-on should be not exceeding:
- 50 linear inches (22 x 18 x 10 in) or 127 centimetres (56 x 46 x 25 cm) including wheels and handles.
- It should fit under the seat in front of you or the overhead bin.
Following size and weight restrictions on Personal items:
- 40 linear inches (18 x 14 x 8in) or 102 centimeters (46 x 36 x 20cm)
- Put in the available space under the seat in front of you.
- Carry-on does not count items such as; a jacket, umbrella, diaper bags, duty-free items, and assistive devices (wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, strollers, child restraint seats, etc).
NOTE: There is no under-seat storage on Bulkhead seats, therefore, during take-off, all carry-on baggage must be stowed in the overhead bin.
Spirit Airlines checked baggage/ hold luggage Policy
- 2 bags are standard, and there are under 5 bags. (except international flights)
- Maximum dimension: 62 inches or 157 centimeters (length + width + height)
- Maximum weight: 40 pounds or 18 kilograms.
Spirit Airlines Baggage Fee
Spirit Airlines carry-on baggage fee:
- 37 USD at booking.
- 47 USD before online web check-in.
- 47 USD at online web check-in.
- 55 USD at the airport ticket counter.
- 65 USD at the airport gate.
Spirit Airlines checked/hold baggage fee:
First Bag:
- 30 USD at booking.
- 40 USD before online web check-in.
- 40 USD at online web check-in.
- 50 USD at the airport ticket counter.
Second Bag:
- 40 USD at booking.
- 50 USD before online web check-in.
- 50 USD at online web check-in.
- 60 USD at the airport ticket counter.
NOTE: Additional fees will be charged in USD 2 during holiday seasons and USD 9% discount on baggage fees if you are a member of Spirit Airlines
Spirit Airlines fee for Excess Baggage
Fees for the third and fifth bags:
- 85 USD at booking.
- 95 USD before online web check-in.
- 95 USD at online web check-in.
- 100 USD at the airport ticket counter.
Spirit Airlines Overweight Baggage fee
Charges on bags are applicable if their weight is more than 50 Pounds or 23 Kilograms.
- USD 30 extra per bag: 41 to 50 pounds or 18 to 23 kilograms.
- USD 55 extra per bag: 51 to 70 pounds or 23 to 32 kilograms.
- USD 100 extra per bag: 71 to 100 pounds or 32 to 45 kilograms.
- Checked baggage/hold luggage will be not accepted if the weight of the bag exceeds 100 pounds or 46 kilograms.
- If you traveling from December 1 to January 10 via international flights make sure your bag weighs between 50 pounds or 23 kilograms.
Spirit Airlines Oversize Baggage fee
USD 100 will be charged on bags if their size lies between 63 to 80 linear inches or from 158 to 203 centimeters and USD 150 will be charged on bags that are from 80 to 160 linear inches or from 203 to 406 centimeters. Checked bags/ hold luggage will not be accepted if the bags are greater than 160 linear inches or 406 centimeters.
Spirit Airlines Sports Equipment Fee
Associated fees will be applied and Spirit Airlines accepts equipment based on their size and weight such as golf bags, fishing equipment, hockey, and lacrosse equipment but fees will be applied as per the counts of one checked luggage/hold bag.
CPAP Devices
You can bring your medical supplies, assistive equipment, and/or respiratory assisting devices (CPAPs, POCs, etc.) on board for free. These items do not count against your baggage allowance. However, the relevant fee will be charged if your assistive equipment is in a bag with any other personal belongings. As long as they fit in the overhead bin, we urge our clients with special needs to bring any assistive technology or prescription drug on board. The device’s maximum dimensions to be securely stored on board are 22 x 18 x 10 inches (56 x 46 x 25cm).
